Can I Wear Makeup After Microneedling?

Microneedling is a safe and effective method of skin rejuvenation. Using a small, handheld device, skin needling creates tiny punctures throughout the treatment area. This stimulates your body’s natural healing response, resulting in a smoother and blemish-free complexion.

Microneedling is often combined with other skin care treatments. Depending on your specific needs, adding laser skin rejuvenation or PRP injections to your skin needling treatment may help enhance and extend results. During your initial consultation at our Los Angeles office, one of our experienced dermatologists will carefully evaluate your problem areas and provide you with useful information about all of your treatment options.

How Soon After Skin Needling Can I Wear Makeup?

Some people can wear makeup without problems within three to five days of skin needling. However, makeup should not be worn until you have been given the okay by your dermatologist.

Choosing to wear makeup too soon or selecting the wrong type of makeup can have adverse effects and may even cause lasting problems after any skin rejuvenation treatment. As with all things post-microneedling, it is important that you carefully follow pre and post-treatment skincare recommendations for optimal comfort and improved results.

Will I Need More Than One Treatment?

Microneedling is a mildly invasive treatment which requires very little recovery time. However, as a gentler treatment option, skin needling is also not as quick to produce results as options like fractional skin resurfacing. When choosing microneedling alone, most people require three to six treatments for optimal results.

Skin care following treatment is incredibly important. We will work directly with you to help you understand which products and ingredients to use and which to avoid. These same steps will need to be taken after each treatment.

Lasting results may rely on continued use of certain skincare products, including daily use of SPF. We will discuss this in more detail during your time in our care.
