Summer’s headed our way and we’re all starting to get very body-conscious. Although most people in LA stay in pretty good shape, even my patients dedicated to hot yoga and extreme spinning come in asking for a little help around this time of year.
Real results – not just promises
Since we’re only interested in treatments with very real, visible results around here, we took our time in evaluating the machines that claim to work. We settled on two.
Tackling Fat and Loose Skin
Whether you’re fretting about stubborn pockets of fat or sagging skin (or both), there are two great options to get you beach body ready. Both Zeltiq CoolSculpting and Exilis are FDA approved, noninvasive, and work naturally with your lymphatic system. They’re both kind of easy-breezy alternatives to painful surgery or lumpy liposuction.
Freezing the fat!
Coolsculpting freezes fat to the point of elimination (crystalizes fat cells so they break apart) and is ideal for addressing localized bulges say on the back, belly, and love handles.
The CoolSculpting maker, Zeltiq, recently introduced new hand pieces that are allowing us to target areas even more specifically, so those inner thighs and long areas up the back can be freeze-treated too.
Exilis – fighting fat and lax skin
Exilis is one of those rare dual-capability machines that offers both skin tightening and fat-dissolving benefits. Special monopolar radio frequency waves can tighten skin anywhere on your face or body – your neck, thighs, above your knees or elbows, or anywhere that’s troubling you. Crepey post-baby tummies are a perfect match for Exilis tightening
Reaches deep for real results
The heat deposition with Exilis in the fat-melting mode reaches an impressive 2.5 cm – think a full inch! Not much fat will escape that at that depth. Because the system handpiece is moved continuously during the treatment, it’s very adept at reaching all the areas you want with a smooth result.
Which for you?
Depending on your body’s pesky fat deposits or skin laxity, one or both treatments may be right for you. Both CoolSculpting and Exilis generate positive results that continue to appear for months after your last appointment. That means you’ll look great in your bikini this summer and in that yoga top long after bikini season is over.
Our Exilis and CoolSculpting nurse can provide a private assessment to determine which technology will work best for your problems.
(If your have deep structural laxity, you may find that Ultherapy is a better option. Our FNP, Angela Sarff, is an advanced Ultherapist as well as a double-trained CoolSculpting and Exilis technician and she will be able to guide you to exactly the best procedure choice.)
In office consults can be scheduled by calling (323) 464 8046. We for certain won’t suggest you undergo a treatment if we know the only real option is surgical. So be prepared. If you have significant fat, are noticeably overweight or have pronounced skin laxity, we may suggest you seek the advice of a surgeon.
