Ultherapy in Los Angeles

Ultherapy in Los Angeles is a completely non-invasive way to lift and tighten the skin on your brow, chin, neck, and décolletage.

Using the energy of ultrasound, this innovative device reaches deep below the skin to the structural layers. In this way, Ultherapy targets a similar tissue depth as a surgical facelift. Ultherapy uses time-tested ultrasound energy to lift and tighten the skin naturally—without surgery or downtime.

What Is Ultherapy?

Sagging, inelastic skin is an inevitable result of aging. Los Angeles Ultherapy helps reverse some of this drooping with ultrasound energy emitted from the device as heat. This heat, delivered to the layers of deep skin and muscle, causes the skin to tighten and stimulates the production of new, tighter collagen. The ultrasound energy treats deep layers of tissue while leaving the surface untouched. This device has been FDA-cleared to lift and tighten the following areas:

  • Brow
  • Chin
  • Neck
  • Décolletage (Wrinkle Improvement)

Seeing Beneath the Surface

This ultrasound technology also allows us to see the area we are treating via a computer monitor, just as a physician would look at an ultrasound to diagnose a tissue abnormality.

During your appointment, the device will be passed back and forth across the skin. Some patients experience only the most mild pinching sensation, while others describe greater discomfort. We will discuss oral pain medication options at your consultation.

Please note that you will not be allowed to drive yourself home after your Ultherapy treatment in Los Angeles if you take a prescription pain medication. If needed, we can arrange to have a professional driving service pick you up and take you home.

Please see our treatment guidelines for pre- and post-operative recommendations.

Certified Advanced Ultherapist

In addition to our board-certified physician providers, Los Angeles Ultherapy Nurse Practioner Angela Sarff is a graduate of the most advanced training available for Ultherapy. A three-day intensive training program at the Ulthera Clinical headquarters has given Angela clinical specialist techniques that translate to the best treatment results and precise pain management for the most comfortable treatment possible.

What To Expect From Ultherapy

Ultherapy frees you from the need for general anesthesia, so you will be able to return to your normal activities right away. Some people experience slight redness or subtle puffiness for a day or so, and others may experience bruising at various levels.

Some of our patients see a difference in their skin fairly quickly. But you shouldn’t expect to see results until after three months, once the new collagen has developed in your skin, with continuing improvement over six months. The results are long-lasting, but you will see a lessening effect after a couple of years or whenever the natural aging process causes the skin to look saggy once again. You can always choose to have an additional Ultherapy session in Los Angeles.

Is Ultherapy Painful?

Each of our patients’ has a slightly different treatment experience, some find it mildly uncomfortable while others with high sensitivity levels know upfront they’d prefer comfort measures. You may experience the sensation of warmth or tingling beneath your skin or a pinching sensation. Most people tolerate the treatment well.

Talk to Dr. Fitzgerald if you are nervous about the Ultherapy experience in Los Angeles. She will give you an idea of what to expect as well as options for managing discomfort. Any sensation you experience from the device should dissipate quickly at the treatment end. Post-treatment discomfort is usually mild and can be managed with over-the-counter pain relievers.

How Many Ultherapy Treatments Will I Need?

Most people need only a single Ultherapy session in Los Angeles to get results. A smaller percentage of people benefit from a second session months later. It depends on your degree of skin laxity and other factors. It does take a few months for the collagen to build, so it’s important to wait before deciding whether you need another treatment.

Once you’ve achieved your initial results, you may benefit from an annual Ultherapy session if you want to maintain the results.

Are There Any Side Effects To Ultherapy?

After treatment, you may experience redness, tingling, puffiness, and temporary numbness. It should resolve over the following hours or days.

Is There Recovery Involved With Ultherapy?

Like most other non-invasive treatments in Los Angeles, Ultherapy involves no downtime, though some swelling or bruising may be considered “social downtime”. You can return to work immediately if you wish, although some people prefer to take the day as a self-care day. It’s a good idea to wait 24 hours before resuming strenuous activity so that the treated areas a chance to calm down.
