Answers To All Your Questions About Body Sculpting

Dr. Fitzgerald offers a wide range of body sculpting procedures. This means our Los Angeles-area patients have a number of options and can finally resolve any number of long-standing aesthetic concerns. However, this wealth of options can be a little confusing. We understand that if you’re considering a body sculpting procedure, you probably have a lot of questions. And we want to ensure you know everything there is to know before you move forward with a procedure.

To help you, we’ve written this post. It answers a lot of the commonly asked questions we hear about body sculpting. After reading this post, you’ll have a better understanding of body sculpting and what it can achieve for you.

What is Body Sculpting?

Obviously, a lot of people in Los Angeles work hard to stay in shape, lose weight and look their best. However, there are occasions where – for whatever reason – the results aren’t as ideal as they could be. Stubborn deposits of fat that don’t respond to diet and exercise can mar an otherwise beautiful figure.

This is where body sculpting comes in. The body sculpting procedures Dr. Fitzgerald offers are all non-surgical and non-invasive. They’re designed to safely target very specific parts of the body and eliminate small deposits of fat or achieve very particular aesthetic objectives.

They’re great options for many patients.

What Body Sculpting Procedures Do You Offer?

As noted above, we offer a number of body sculpting procedures. We want to ensure you can meet all of your body sculpting needs at our office.

Dr. Fitzgerald can perform the following procedures:

We’re proud of each of these procedures, and we’ve seen many patients walk away with a body they’re proud of after undergoing one of them. These are fantastic procedures, and, in the right circumstances, they can achieve great things for you.

What is CoolSculpting®?

Liposuction is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures in the United States. But while liposuction is effective at removing stubborn deposits of fat, it’s still a surgical procedure, which means it’s invasive and there’s a recovery process required.

For many patients, this is not ideal. That’s why CoolSculpting® is such an exciting option. It allows you to remove unsightly fat deposits without undergoing surgery.

The procedure is pretty simple. We place a special applicator on the treatment area. The fat deposit is drawn between two cooling plates, which then dramatically lower the temperature of the treatment area. Fat cells are then “frozen,” which destroys them. The cells are then eliminated from the body naturally.

The fat cells are gone for good. Depending on the treatment area, a CoolSculpting® procedure can take between 30 and 60 minutes.

What Parts of the Body Can CoolSculpting® Treat?

At our office, we are equipped with the full range of CoolSculpting® applicators. This means we can treat a number of common cosmetic concerns.

CoolSculpting® can be used on the following parts of the body:

  • Stomach
  • Love handles
  • Chest
  • Upper arms
  • Legs
  • Chin

There’s a lot CoolSculpting® can achieve for you. We’ll be happy to talk about your needs and whether CoolSculpting® can address them.

What is CoolMini®?

CoolMini® is essentially just CoolSculpting® for the chin. Specifically, it is designed to eliminate the dreaded double chin.

This is a common problem, and it can be difficult to eliminate. You can’t very well exercise your chin. And if you happen to have a body that stubbornly stores fat in the area, all the exercise and diet in the world can struggle to get rid of the double chin.

This is where CoolMini® comes in. The applicator is smaller and curved so that it perfectly fits around the chin. It works in just the same way CoolSculpting® does – the fat cells are frozen, destroyed and eliminated naturally.

What is Exilis?

One particularly common complaint from our patients is loose skin. This tends to happen with people who’ve worked hard and lost a great deal of weight in a relatively short period of time. This weight loss is great for your health and well-being, and it should look great.

However, one of the unpleasant side effects of significant weight loss is loose skin. The fat disappears, but the skin that expanded to account for it doesn’t go anywhere. This is unpleasant, unsightly and it’s something most patients want to address as soon as possible. Skin tightening is a solution.

Exilis works by deploying radio frequency signals into the skin. This stimulates collagen re-alignment under your skin, resulting in tighter skin. The procedure is intensely customizable – we can dictate just how deep we want the radio frequency signals to penetrate, depending on your specific needs and goals.

An Exilis treatment is about 20 to 30 minutes long. A full course of treatment requires four to six sessions, spaced about two weeks apart.

What Areas Can Exilis Treat?

Like CoolSculpting®, Exilis is exceptionally flexible and can be used on a number of different parts of the body. Possible treatment areas include:

  • Eyes
  • Mouth or chin
  • Jawline
  • Neck
  • Abdomen
  • Back
  • Arms
  • Legs

These are all areas that patients commonly want to treat – they’re often visible to onlookers, especially in summer months when people in Los Angeles are usually wearing clothes that reveal the extremities.

Are These Procedures Safe?

Each body sculpting procedure we offer has a proven track record of success and safety. We would never perform any procedure that fails to meet our safety standards. And your safety is always our paramount concern.

Furthermore, because these procedures are non-surgical and non-invasive, the risk of the complications that are associated with even safe surgeries is eliminated. And body sculpting procedures require little in the way of recovery or downtime. Depending on the procedure you undergo, you can usually return to work immediately afterward.

Am I A Candidate for Body Sculpting?

We are committed to ensuring that our patients only undergo procedures that are right for them. We want you to have a pleasant experience at our office, and that means performing the correct procedures for your specific needs.

When it comes to body sculpting, the general traits of an ideal candidate include:

  • Sound overall health
  • Being at or near your ideal body weight
  • Possessing reasonable expectations for the procedure

Of course, the only way to know for sure if a specific body sculpting procedure is right for you is to visit our office for a consultation and examination. We will thoroughly evaluate you to ensure these procedures are appropriate for you.
