Jowls. The word itself is unpleasant. Their existence? Even more so. Unfortunately, droopy skin hanging off the jawline is just a part of the aging process for many of us.
Of course, surgical options, like facelift surgery, can address jowls. These, however, come with incisions, risks for infection and bleeding, and the potential for scars. They also require time off work and special incision care and are often painful during recovery. Clearly, this is not the best solution for everyone.
But…are there non-surgical skin tightening options that are just as effective?
You may be surprised to learn that, yes, there are. And many of them are available right here, at our welcoming Los Angeles office.
Non-Surgical Skin Tightening
We are pleased to offer several options for sculpting the jawline. Some of the most popular choices include:
- Ultherapy®. This treatment utilizes ultrasound technology to stimulate collagen production deep in the skin. Safe and effective, Ultherapy requires absolutely no downtime and comes with few, if any, risks. Equally exciting, results can be obtained through a single treatment, though they may take up to six months to materialize fully
- Ellacor®. The actual reduction of skin via “micro-coring” is the most recent innovation in improving the profile and contour of the lower face. Tiny hollow core needles are used to extract micro columns of skin (no scarring).
- Kybella®. Kybella is the only injectable treatment for double chin. While technically not jowls, a double chin will diminish jawline definition and can create an overall more aged appearance. It may take three or more sessions to eliminate all the treatable fat underneath the chin with Kybella, but within four to six weeks, noticeable results should be present
- Although not a jowl “removing” procedure, dermal fillers can modify lower facial contours by restoring volume above the jowl area
Is each of these treatments ideal for every need? Of course not. That’s why we offer a comprehensive range of skin tightening options, enabling us to meet each patient’s specific needs. If you are unhappy with the presence of jowls, double chin, turkey waddle, crepey neck, and similar issues, we look forward to meeting with you and helping you find the best solutions for yours.
